Criteria for selection and qualification
|
The following criteria, which are derived directly form the BLP program of UN-HABITAT, will be considered by the Technical Evaluation Committee (TEC) and by the International Jury in order to choose the winning practices: |
Impact on living conditions that is p ositive and tangible, measured by the comparison between the initial conditions and the achieved results. |
Partnership among a substantial number of social agents e.g. public, and private sectors, civil society, community-based organizations, etc. |
Sustainability, which is manifested in transformations and long-term social, economical, environmental, and institutional changes. This can be observed by the continuity of the process, and the emergence and growth of additional and lateral initiatives based on the initial project. |
Community leadership and empowerment, including enhancement of social life, commitment and awareness by all inhabitants, and an increase in skills and local political participation within the communities. |
Gender Equality and Social Inclusion , including acceptance of social and cultural diversity, promotion of equal rights and justice, and acknowledgement & appreciation of different abilities. |

Innovation , which is based on alternative forms of organization, management, and resource-use. |
Transfer : Capacities for knowledge-sharing, availability of human and technical resources to achieve a transfer. Demonstrable experiences in sharing and adapting lessons learned, and feasibility of adapting the practice to other contexts. |
The potential to be adapted to other environments, the viability, and the feasibility of transfer of the practices will afford the highest scores during the deliberation process that will be used to select the winning practices. |
